Excellent hotel with brilliant choice of food and drink, we felt very relaxed there. Some of the waiters came across slightly abrasive at first but I don't believe my first impression was correct. The desserts at dinner weren't really the best but closer to average, the main however was excellent. The room was very good with some quirky plumbing (hot water toilet flush) but these things can be expected in such an old building. The staff have a hard task of trying to be a boutique hotel and also a gastropub which mainly works but at times felt more like a pub with rooms as opposed to the aforementioned. Would I stay there again, yes but any accommodation in Rye is worth staying in because it is in Rye.....one of the nicest places I have been on my travels and sure to be a firm favourite for many years to come
Beautiful hotel, perfect mix of cosy traditional in keeping with the age of the building and stylish modern touches. Lovely staff who were very helpful and understanding with the wedding. Pretty little town too. Many thanks.

The staff here are an absolute delight! Friendly and courteous, first class customer service and if we are in Rye again, we will definitely return! We only popped in for refreshments, but we're treat with the up most care. Served by a young man with dark hair, then later a young pretty lady in a red flowery dress. Both were incredibly gifted in customer care and smiles. Thank you for being an excellent addition to our trip to Rye!
Have stayed here 2 previous times and would happily have given worthy 5 star rating for previous lovely experiences. This time our expectations has shown to be a disappointing stay so far. The accommodation is still pleasant and breakfast quality is still above average. However, service has been a let down. Not sure if they're under-staffed or if it's management/organisation issue? It seems a little chaotic at times seeing staff rushing round has negatively impacted our experience here.

Great value, pleasant staff and lovely breakfast (well cooked not over done) with a nice continental selection too. Room is clean and comfortable, mine had a balcony table bit aswell which was nice. Nothing flashy but certainly comfortable. Highly recommend for a stay in Rye if looking for somewhere good value and pleasant. Also very close to centre and the night manager kindly watched my bike for me indoors where it was safe.
Very nice place within the town centre. Good private car park. Nice and tasty breakfast with a lovely quiet room, and yes I would return to the Hotel.

great food and service. lovely views towards the river. good choice of drinks and varied menu
We were tempted to try the Plough by the (mostly) glowing reviews. The prices are high, and, therefore, so were the expectations, but unfortunately the food was very mediocre. We intended to have puddings, but left after the bland mains.

Nice friendly pub tucked just off the main street going into Rye. We stopped for a refreshing ice cold drink after a long walk in the hot sun, and sat for a while on the outside seating which was very pleasant. Also had a small bite to eat off the food menu; three sides for £12 and all were very tasty and beautifully presented. Would definitely stop by here for some refreshment if in the area again.
The restaurant was and is really great. I can't comment on the hotel side of things. I think it's really good value for pretty excellent food and always go back there when I'm in rye. It's a shame the hotel and restaurant reviews get kept together by Google. There weren't that many people in the pub when I last went there which is sad but it doesn't project an image on the outside to reflect how good things are on the inside (it was advertising the world cup when we went there) and it's on the edge of town. I recommend eating here.

Great pub. Serves amazing food and lovely beer. Lovely setting in the village of Iden. Nice garden to eat and drink in the summer sun. Friendly staff.
We were a group of 10, staying in the village for the weekend, and were encouraged by good reviews, so visited on a Saturday evening. The menu sounded lovely, and everyone chose something they were happy with. The waitress explained they were short staffed, and apologised that we waited for our drinks. Main meals were nice, everyone was happy. We wanted pudding, but we weren't able to order for some time as the waitress didn't come back. We wrote down our order and took it to the bar. We had been told they needed our table by 8, so were conscious not to take too long. The waitress seemed reluctant to lay out the cutlery, worried that we wouldn't finish in time. Puddings arrived, which we finished quickly, feeling that we needed to rush. They were disappointing considering the price (£5.50 each). When we told the waitress, she said they were willing to take one thing off the menu, but not the rest of the puddings we were unhappy about. On this experience, we wouldn't return if in the area again.

My sister & I visited from Australia & spent 10 nights at 'The Stables' just before Christmas 2017 - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was really spacious for the two of us and had everything that we needed, including a great shower, fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine, very reliable wi-fi, central heating & car parking. It is only a short distance into the town centre of Rye either by car or foot. Jane is a wonderful host & made us feel so welcome - we'll definitely be back next time we are visiting our family in the area - hopefully in the warmer months!

Lovely weekend place within walking distance of the town centre. Well equipped and well maintained. Beautiful views.
Fantastic little find. Great property with private riverside setting, large garden, dog friendly and walking distance into Rye centre. Plenty of parking. Lovely owners who provided us with lots of local info

Such a beautiful and quite place. The cabin is comfortable with everything you need. The owner is a friendly lady who is very helpful and a wonderful host. There are lots of castles in the area, Camber Sands is 10 minutes away by car and shopping malls also no more than 30 minutes away. Will be coming back for another stay.

Lovely stay as always clean quite lots of choice for breakfast you will not go wrong with the full English 😎 many restaurants of good food within two min walk and run by very nice people 😎
I found this lovely b&b on the internet for a last minute anniversary treat and it being a windmill intrigued me. We were lucky to get the 4 poster room as they had a cancellation. We were met by one of the friendly owners who was very helpful and told us some great places to check out when we went out. This establishment is very warm and inviting. Our room was an amazing octagonal shape and a very comfy bed. No detail is left un thought of. The honesty bar is fabulous and the little fire you can sit listening to some music is the icing on the cake. Breakfast was amazing locally sourced goods, top quality nothing cheap here. It has to be hands down one of the most loveliest places I have been fortunate to stay in. We will be back.

Excellent Location, staff helpful and friendly, rooms clean, food 100%. Great value for money. Recommended.
Very friendly owners and staff. Rooms are really clean and comfortable. Lots of good breakfast options - both hot and cold
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Brilliant location and very friendly owner. Lovely and well maintained site, has plugs for phone charging, fridge, freezer (for freezer blocks), sink area and showers. I'd recommend hiring a fire basket as it gets cold at night. Close to some great pubs and a lovely hotel for afternoon tea. There's a lovely country walk into Rye, close to Camber Sands and a couple of small supermarkets (well stocked CoOp nearby). Would definitely visit again.
It's our first night at the Hare & Hounds. We arrived to a lovely warm (and organised) welcome. What a beautiful and quiet site, everything is laid out well to cater for everything you could want, whilst also helping care for the site. They have a little shop which this evening is being manned (or womaned) by a pair of little angels. There is even a communal fridge freezer (with labels and a sharpie) as well as a microwave and phone charge points (amazing). Just grabbed a shower in a lovely modern and clean block. I can honestly say, that if we weren't on a touring holiday, we would have happily spent more time here. A lot of sites could do with visiting here and seeing the level of not only customer care, but value for money.
Main St, Peasmarsh, Rye TN31 6YD, UK – 01797 230281
Staff were really friendly and gave excellent service. The food was also very good and decent portion sizes. Prices are about average for what you would expect, £12 is about the average price for most main courses on the menu. Overall a very nice pub to visit.
Nice pub with pub food menu. Good portions. Friendly staff.
